London – UK (Healer Selecta Rock’n’Roll Soul Surf Revue) In 2008, the iconic American actress Tura Satana (Varla in Russ Meyer’s ‘65 cult classic, Faster Pussycat Kill Kill asked DJ Healer Selecta (Freestyle Records) aka Yvan Serrano (Vintage Weekender/RaisonD’Etre London) to create some music for her next movie. Thus, The Dustaphonics concept was born.
The Dustaphonics is not a band in the traditional sense; instead it is composed of founder band leader, music director & producer DJ Healer Selecta, who selects and assembles a specific rotating line-up of London-based singers, drummers and bass players to form a 4 piece band: Yvan playing guitar himself, featuring Gizelle Smith or Hayley Red or Aina Roxx on vocals. Mark Claydon or Eric Frajria or Bruce Brand or Hugo Deviers on drums and Dan Whaley or Daniel Jeanrenaud or Devid Dell’Aiera on bass.

Whether The Dustaphonics plays tonight, at a festival for 10,000 people in Spain or in France, in a club in the North of England, or in a trendy venue in London and whoever from that rotating line-up will be on stage that night, The Dustaphonics will deliver whatsoever the same great quality, atmosphere, sound, enthusiasm and energy. All of whom share the same passion for 50s/60s Rhythm ’n’ Blues, Rock’n’Roll, Rockabilly, Instrumental Surf, Soul, Funk, Garage and 70s Punk Rock, melding all these influences into a tonic unique Dustaphonics vibrate sound wrapped up in a party vibe:
Since 10 years Serrano’s and various collaborators brings that great and positive vibe which makes Dustaphonics songs remarkably fresh and distinctly modern, with a production sense that offer the best possible sound to both: Purist vintage roots music fans and those who want something up to date.[embed]https://youtu.be/p6Z4ND1i8Ps[/embed]
The Dustaphonics have been twice backed legendary Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd on stage, opened the London show of Motown icons, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Garage Punk heroes The Sonics, Rockabilly Queen Wanda Jackson, 60s Swinging London cult Blues man Sam Gopal, R’n’B Maestro James Hunter and the list goes on.

Spo-dee-o-dee blends Rockabilly, Rock n Roll and Teenbeat in their very own uniquei timeless style. Theres hardly any stage around the globe the band hasn t played yet, including tours through Japan, Russia, Europe and off course through Rock n Roll’s homeland the USA. No less than 8 Albums and 7 45 s has this red hot outfit released to date. Most of the important festivals like VLV, High Rockabilly or The Rockabilly Rave Spo-dee-o-dee has played at least twice. Within the last years the band has turned more towards a heavier, 2 electric guitars driven late 50s sound mixed with some Teenbeat Rockers here and there which goes down with all kinda audiences whereever they go. Looking at the bands releases is like taking a look at the 3rd wave of Rockabilly/Rock n Roll Labels, TAIL, FAVOURITE, ON THE HILL, PART, CRAZY GATOR, SLEAZY and now last but not least they re allready releasing thier 4th album on the fabulous RHYTHM BOMB Label. It seems they finally got all figured out with the new Album called “Drinkin Wine ” SPO-DEE-O-DEE ?SPO DEE O DEE from Germany were as excellent as I recalled, hot rockabilly reworkings of blues standards, a very cool style indeed. I DJed after their set,
Rockabilly, Roots, Country, Doo Wop, 50s instrumentals – you name it – Its the many styles of Spo-Dee-O-Dee …Who else could review such a classic release as Mr. Rockabilly Rave himself, Jerry Chatabox:OK, you already know this is a great rockabilly combo, so you think you know roughly what to expect on this album, right ? Oh Really ??? Well you couldn’t be more wrong, and I’ll tell you why… You get yanked straight in with a frantic paced bopper, Crazy For My Baby, and the pounding moody rocker, Lovestruck Baby. But then whats this ? Piano and Sax on the ’58 Danny Boy classic, Don’t Go Pretty Baby ?!! As this gets you thinking, you cruise along with a couple of fine country rock songs blaring out…. the tuneful, Why Did She Have To Go ? you play over and over and the alternate Tell Me Who with ’60’s Elvis western movie backing, has you grinning from ear to ear ! A change of mood and the powerhouse instrumental, Thunderbird is followed by a straight down the line Gene Vincent rock’n’roll workout on Let Me In ! When you hear, I Aint Got You and Pride and Joy, you have to look at the CD cover to check that this earthy, black r’n’b is the same band ! No More Cryin The Blues superbly handled.. not rushed, calms you back down, and just when you thought life was normal again, the guys shed their rockabilly skin and turn out a perfect white Italian/American do wop classic.. With a fix of primitive hardcore rockabilly on, Go Little Go Cat, you realise Spo-dee-o-dee are back in the studio. But who were all those other guys you heard….. ???
Mystery Trio is a Rockabilly act from Curitiba, Brazil consisting on Elvis Martinatto (vocal/acoustic guitar), Beto Glaser (electric guitar) and Luiz Fireball (upright bass). The band was formed in the second half of 2007 and it was called ‘Flatheads’ but in 2009 they changed their name to Mystery Trio, an appropriate pun for Mystery Train, one of the most famous Rockabilly songs recorded by Elvis Presley himself.Since the forming – a three piece trio of acoustic guitar, upright bass and electric guitar – the band began writing and performing traditional Rockabilly the way it was played in the early days, when Charlie Feathers, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley were setting the standards and make original songs that combined elements of the Western Swing, Hillbilly Bop, early Rock n’Roll and Traditional Country to the 1950’s style raw Rockabilly sounds to create their own music. After their first few performances at the local clubs, always going crazy on stage, the band has been going from strength to strength, being booked for several gigs and featured appearances at these festivals in Brazil, Europe and USA: Psycho Carnival, Rockabilly Kustom Motor Show, Kaiser Music Festival, Curitiba Roadsters Hot Rod Meeting, Psychobilly Fest, Red Foot Stomp, Waldorf Rock And Roll Weekender, Kustom Kulture Forever and Viva Las Vegas.
In 2010 they signed their first record deal and released their debut called “Turn on the Key”. 2011 saw the release of their first 45 RPM, the official video of “Rollin’ Till the Night” and many shows in the year including a set in Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend in Las Vegas, USA. In 2013 the band has signed with Rhythm Bomb Records and their new EP called “Don’t Give me your troubles” has been released at the first half of 2014.In 2012 the Mystery Trio has been touring on Europe with many gigs around there with and stop at the world famous Lightining Records Service where they have recorded 4 tracks already available on their EP released by Rhythm Bomb Records. The band is making a new CD to be released on Rhythm Bomb Records at the second half of 2014 and they will be touring around Europe again in 2015.Quotes:“If you like a Succulent Sexy Sensual Soulful Swingin’ Sound you’re gonna dig these Boys from Brazil, Mystery Trio indeed, with their Red Hot True Blue Western Bop Sound!!! I sure dig them! “Rockin’ Ronny Weiser“The Mystery Trio capture authenticity, a familiar sound but one that is all they’re own. Top notch rockabilly at its finest. Smooth vocals, thumpin’ double bass and a mean twangy guitar with the prefect tone! Dig this!”Russel Ray Gere (DJ El Dedo)“I first caught the ‘Trio at Viva Las Vegas in a small club, where they PACKED the floor with their own brand of ultra-traditional rockabilly tunes = it was like hearing Johnny Burnette for the first time!!!”Moris Everett – Lil’ Mo (Dynaflos/Unholy 4)“”It’s no mystery, this trio has the right formula for rockabilly!”Matt Strickland (Hi-Q’s)“Great songwriting, good melodies and great rhythms”Pat Capocci“MYSTERY TRIO is one of those rare group who plays early Rockabilly influenced by Glenn Barber, Jess Hooper, Sonny Fisher, Junior Thompson, Georges Jones, The Sound of Memphis (TN) & Beaumont (TX) both. With a guy looks like young Elvis on vocal who just came through the door of Sun Studio in 1954 ! This how I see this TRIO that has no more MYSTERY form me now. You are totally in the roots of this music.”Hervé Loison (Jake Calypso)“Wow, check these boys out! Brilliant trio, all the way from Brazil; I’m a fan!”Huey Moor“Real rockabilly music is a rare occurrence in South America; not impossible to find, but definitely rare. Finding straight—up traditional styled rockabilly (upright bass, no drums!) is like striking gold and winning the lotto at the same time. Up from Curitiba, Parana, Brazil, with a name taken from one of Elvis’ greatest early recordings comes the Mystery ‘Trio, an acoustic threesome sure to endearthemselves to fans of Alvis Wayne, Luke McDaniel and the original Blue Moon Boys. Beto Glaser plays his echo-soaked Gretsch like a musician auditioning for Sam Phillips, picking those countrifiedblues with true Southern cat style. Luiz Fireball walks his metronome-steady bass straight on down the line, providing all the percussion and bottom end you’ll ever need and Elvis Martinatto’s vocals and acoustic strumming hold it all together, setting the tone for a well paced, entertaining and fun ride from first to last note.”DJ Del Villarreal

To me, they have a mix between Johnny Carroll, The Johnny Burnette Trio, and early Elvis Sun Records stuff and throw in a bit of a modern sound as well.”Jay from the Opening Set(www.theopeningset.com/featured-artist/johnny-law/)“With an energetic live act, this band shows off its style of classic rockabilly mixed with swing, rare vocals, catchy ballads and even some Mexican influences. Interview with Johnny Law: Johnny lays down the Law!1) Confirm band members and names (and band name!) – real names? All band names except mine (Johnny Law) are real names. Mine is a knick name.2) Why did you pick your band name? Johnny Law started as a knick-name and then the whole Pistol Packin’ Daddies thing just came from the song, Pistol Packin’ Mama. How did you form? The band had been going since 2001 and seen a few line up changes prior to meeting up with the latest members and deciding we all made a perfect fit. We all have the same musical tastes and aspirations and enjoy playing music together. Why did you decide to play the genre or genres you do? This genre of music is something we’ve all been interested in as individuals for many years so it was a “no brainer” really.3) Do you write out your lyrics? I (Johnny Law) do write all my own lyrics. I’ve never collaborated with another writer before with lyrics. I have done with music, but never lyrics. Maybe I should try this some time? Do you ever change a song’s lyrics in live sets? Only by mistake.4) Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? Sometimes from everyday life or my own experiences and sometimes I just enjoy writing a fictional story. What is your usual songwriting process? I usually write the music and then fit the lyrics to the melody I’ve made up.5) Do you have a band website? http://www.johnnylaw.com.au Do you have a Facebook or Twitter? The band does have a facebook site. https://www.facebook.com/johnnylawband?ref=hl Do you use Bandcamp, Spotify to share your music? At this stage we don’t have a Bandcamp or Spotify account but may look into this in the future.6) Do you think that online presence is important for fans to find you and critics to find your music to write about? I think this is crucial these days. If you want to get your name and your music out there to the fan, you absolutely must have an online presence.7) Anything you would like share, from new merch to upcoming shows/tours or songs/albums? Look out for our new tour in 2015.8) What was your favorite live-music performance, and why? The Summer Jamboree Festival in Italy in an open air castle. The biggest crowd we’ve ever played to and having our faces up on the big screen while we performed. We’ll never forget this day.

Charlie Gracie is one of a diminishing number of rock & roll innovators, who continues to actively perform. A native of South Philadelphia, he became the first successful recording star of the “Rock Era” to emerge from that neighborhood. In 1957, Charlie’s “Butterfly” topped the American and British music charts, selling over 3 million copies. His other late 50’s big sellers include: “Fabulous”, “Ninety-Nine Ways”, “Wanderin Eyes”, “I Love You So MuchIt Hurts” and “Cool Baby.” These hits bankrolled Philly’s famous Cameo-Parkway record label, making it a dominant force in the music industry for nearly a decade! At the height of his fame, Charlie frequently appeared on “Dick Clark’s American Bandstand”, “The Ed Sullivan Show”, and “Alan Freed’s TV Specials”. He headlined shows at the Brooklyn Paramount, the Casino Royale in Washington, the 500 Club in Atlantic City, the Opera House in Chicago and old Connie Mack Stadium in Philadelphia.

Charlie’s star burned even brighter in Great Britain where he became the first solo American artist to bring rock & roll to the English concert stage. Precededonly by Bill Haley and the Comets, Charlie headlined London’s Palladium and Hippodrome–receiving outstanding receptions from the press and public. To this day, Charlie Gracie, is a much loved and respected performer the length and breadth of the United Kingdom.
While Charlie has earned a place in rock music history, this is only one dimension to a career that spans 60-years. His versatility makes him the consummate music man! Even now, Charlie enjoys a strong following at clubs and resorts along the Northeast Corridor of the U.S. Twice, annually, he performs tolarge audiences in countries such as: England, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Finland and Holland. His superb guitar playing elicited the highest of praise from music legends like George Harrison. The late Beatle once referred to Charlie’s guitar technique as “brilliant” in a March 1996 interview with Billboard Magazine. Paul McCartney paid tribute to Charlie by recording an updated version of “Fabulous” in cd series entitled: “Run Devil Run”. McCartney honored Charlie again that fall by inviting him to the album’s premiere party inLondon.
The new Millenium found Charlie on the road with Irish blues rocker, Van Morrison. Van, another Charlie Gracie admirer, commissioned him to open several shows on a West Coast tour–including the Wiltern in Los Angeles the House of Blues in Las Vegas and the Hilton in Reno. In 2007 Charlie was the subject of amade for PBS-TV documentary: “Fabulous!” The program recounted the story of his influential career- from humble beginnings in his South Philadelphia row home (735 Pierce Street) to concert stages around the world! Today, Charlie is still doing what he loves best. His reputation among his peers as a stellar, multi-faceted singer and musician is such that world famous rock stars regularly pay him tribute and volunteer to work with him. In the fall of 2011, ABKCO Records released his latest CD: “FOR THE LOVE OF CHARLIE!” produced by Al Kooper, who has recorded and produced the likes of Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix. Among the artists performing with Charlie on the CD are: Graham Nash, (Crosby, Stills Nash & Young), Peter Noone (Herman’s Hermits), Jimmy Vivino (guitarist & music director; Conan O’Brien Show), Craig Ross (keyboards; Lenny Kravitz) and Dennis Diken (drummer; Smithereens), “What an honor to have these people on my album,” he says. “They don’t need Charlie Gracie, but they love what I put down as a foundation years ago, and I’m humbled that these artists would want to perform with me.”
It is obvious why Charlie Gracie has lasted the course longer than most. He is an accomplished musician and an exceptional talent – a devoted family man whoconducts himself as a gentleman both on stage and off. He is a credit to his industry. And what’s next for this Rockabilly Hall of Fame inducee? Is he readyto retire after more than six decades in the business? Hardly. “I’m getting started on my next album and I’m in the process of writing a book!” Charlie Gracie has only just begun to rock!
*Charlie was voted into Great Britain’s “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame” (1998) created by “Now Dig This” Magazine.
Pavement Kings are Ireland’s rockabilly royalty
“Pavement Kings are the most exciting live rock n roll act in Ireland right now” says Imelda May, and she should know!
Pavement Kings front man Simon Farrell played double bass with Imelda’s band on her triumphant 2008 UK tour, before striking out to form The Pavement Kings, along with rockabilly stalwarts Ciaran ‘Foxy’ Murphy (on guitar), and Shane Atlas (on the trash-can drums).
A Pavement Kings’ live show is something to behold, and has been described as “a white-knuckle ride of blinding slap-bass rockabilly” [entertainment.ie], a high-octane trip to the halcyon days of rock n roll music, we guarantee you will not be able to stay in your seat!
September 29th 2013 saw the release of the band’s debut album “It’s a Hip-Shake Thing”, which features guest appearances by Gavin Povey, pianist with Albert Lee’s legendary band ‘Hogan’s Heroes’, and saxophonist Ciaran Wilde, a legend of the Irish jazz scene. The CD is available to buy from the band’s homepage, click here to go directly to their own website.
The boys are already festival favourites here at home, and have played as far afield as Italy and France. March 2013 saw them visit the USA for the first time. The band flew to South America in November 2013 for a two-week tour of Brazil, and there are trips to Japan and Russia scheduled for 2014.
In the summer of 1994 the guys took the chance to do recordings in a berlin – based studio. When listening to the playbacks they decided to have a drummer in the band. They hired Tina Passberg because they knew that she played drums since she was a kid. With the line-up complete they started to improve way faster just because of the fact that the sound became more catchy and it was easier to keep the rhythm and feel.
In may 1995 they left the town for their first national show with Crazy Cavan in Bremen and they soon signed a record deal with Part-Records , Germany. The Debut-album ´Loud and Silent´ became a huge sucsess all over europe and took them to almost all european countries such as Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium and Spain .In 1997 they appeared at the HEMSBY-Rock and Roll festival as well as the ROCKABILLY-RAVE promoting both their new EP ´I´m not shy to do´ on Part-Records and their second Longplayer on SFAX-Records, Spain. In june 1998 they entered the TAIL – Studios in Jonköping, Sweden to record another album called ´Four Alley Cats´ then took off for a four week US-tour over California, Washington, Colorado, Nevada and Arizona.
In 2000 the recording work continued and TAIL released the fourth Longplayer ´Hello there´. The band went on to perform on festivals in Germany, France and at the GREENBAY ROCKIN´50s FEST, Greenbay, Wisconsin USA in july 2002.
Soon after that they teamed up with RHYTHM BOMB RECORDS and the label released the CD “JUKEBOX FAVORITES” in 2006. The Capers performed at Hemsby 34 in may 2005, at the Screamin´Festival in Spain and the Rockabilly Rave in march 2006!

Mercury 5 History
In July 2015, Maureen became the first female music director in late night talk show history as Maureen & the Mercury 5 were cast as the house band for the new live-to-tape program, “After Dark with Julian Clark at The Second City”, sponsored by Adore FM, Spreaker Radio and Golden Road Brewing. M&M5’s single, “The Keepin’ Kind” (from the album by the same name on Swingtone Records / Universal Music Group) was chosen as the theme song for the show, which producers hope will follow in the footsteps of Second City creations “Saturday Night Live” and “SCTV”.
This is the band with the show host Julian Clark.
2015 also marked several SRO concerts with Surf Guitar Legend Dick Dale, Ameripolitan award-winning international Rockabilly sensations, Big Sandy & His Fly Rite Boys and world-renowned Deke Dickerson.
M&M 5 draws its sound from late 50’s and early 60’s, notably inspired by rockabilly greats like The Stray Cats, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and inimitable soubrettes Dusty Springfield, Ann Margret, Amy Winehouse and even Chrissie Hynde. .
A smash at Viva Las Vegas (VLV) 2013 – the largest Rockabilly festival in the world — Maureen & the Mercury 5 was named among the top 20 bands of 70 appearing there, with the iconic tune “What’s It Gonna Take” featured on the VLV compilation CD.

Now she’s conquering radio airwaves with her Rockabilly Jump Swing thing and the new album ‘The Keepin’ Kind’ . A dominant Rockabilly guitar sound touching Country and Blues as well as some Swing sounds and even Mambo. One can hear influences by such female voices as Imelda May, Chrissy Hynde, and Amy Winehouse with a traditional brand of Rockabilly back beat. Vintage meets modern style, great stuff!”

HERE ARE JUST SOME OF THE REVIEWS OF THIS ALBUM –
“Very Smooth and Swinging, the boys have got some style that’s for sure.”
Del Villarreal, Rockabilly DJ Go Kat Go, Motorbilly Radio.
“From the beginning, this CD just plan sounds good: all the instruments, and the vocals, are well recorded, and in the right place in the mix. There’s an overall clarity and warmth to the sound, which really showcases the band’s sense of dynamics; it’s obvious some real thought has gone into the arrangements of the songs.”
Dave Schroeder, CD reviewer for “Western Swing Music Society”
“Your album is brilliant, one of the best of the year, will be at the top of our radio.”
Chema Valbuena, DJ Rockin’ Therapy Radio.
“With their debut record, Out Of The Past, The Palomars prove that a new generation of Canadians are just as capable of understanding these roots genres and delivering their own brand of it with authentic sincerity.”
Buster Fayte, Rockabilly Blogger (www.rockabillyromp.com)
THE BAND –The band was formed in 2011 by lead singer/steel guitarist Tom Hammel and upright bassist Ken Wilson to follow their love of ’40s and ’50s musical and cultural styles. This just seemed natural for Ken who also runs a business selling ’50s rockabilly wear and for Tom, who’s love of the steel guitar led him to explore musical styles from that era. Tom notes, “I was surprised how the band’s initial rockabilly focus led so easily to other styles that were influenced by jazz and western swing, but without losing their edge”. Part of the bands signature sound is the twin harmony lines played on steel guitar and electric guitar.
The band has been playing locally in Vancouver and has connected with local swing dance groups which was a natural connection for the band. After a recent gig with the Atomic Radio Productions Swing group, DJ J.F.Sebastian commented, “You guys knocked it out of the park and had the dance floor hopping and honky-tonkin’ all night long”. That’s in large part due to the bands swinging rhythm section with drummer Sandy McNair and bassist Ken Wilson who have been playing together in various bands for over 20 years.Spurred by the interest in the debut CD, the Palomars have released 3 singles and are working on more new material with the goal of another album soon.
“What it comes down to for us,” remarks Tom, “Is that we really dig what we’re doing, and we’ve brought a lot of people along with us on a historical musical journey. We know rockabilly isn’t a mainstream form of music, but that’s fine because it was always intended as a form of rebellion.
“The Palomars are:Tom Hammel – Lead vocals and steel guitar, Ken Wilson – Upright bass,Sandy McNair – Drums.

Late 2015 release on Rhythm Bomb Records by California based band Lil’ Mo & The Unholy Four.
Just love this description of the band from their Facebook page –Born in the death house of Parchment Prison Farm, and sired by werewolves, The Unholy Four are a quartet of hell-raising hooligans bent on giving the devil his due by making unearthly noise up and down the west coast! Santos De Leon and Randall Stanton hold down the back beat and bass fiddle, while up on six strings, “Spanish” Mike Sobieski, creates devilish licks and leads. All of this fury is caught in a catchers mitt, shines up with black tar and thrown with a wicked curve by the redneck high screeching sound of one “Lil Mo” Everett, on loan to Lucifer from the fabulous Los Angeles doo-wop octet, The Dynaflos. After sippin’ some of Grandpappys sippin’ shine and sitting on a thumbtack or two, the sound that a-comes out of the jerry-rigged amplification is a harmonious horror-fest of good old East Texas rockabilly and Louisiana swamp blues, with just a hint of Grand Old Opry on the side.WARNING: This is the devils music, liable to make young folks want to copulate in the street, or at least dance real close in dark environments. No one under 3 years of age will be admitted onto the dance floor!!!Some live performances of album tracks –
This is the fourth album by Germany’s Ray Allen. All tracks recorded at Lightning Recorders in Berlin. Engineered by Ike Stoye, re-recording, mastering by Axel Praefcke. Sleeve design by Axel Praefcke.
