Check out the Bloody Edith Instagram feed at this profile – LOLADISTEFANOHistoryEverything started from a pair of shorts: the one Jane Wyman was wearing in “Magic Obsession”.Laura Distefano was getting ready for the Kustom Weekend 2008 while tv was showing the great movie directed by Douglas Sirk. It was then that she decided to sew those shorts for her to be wear during the Tuscany meeting.Said and done. It was a great success. The retro style, passion for the fashion, the professional skills experienced in the tailoring of the most prestigious italian theaters and lot of ambition did the rest. That was the beginning of an hand-made clothing line inspired by forties and fifties.Today Bloody Edith is the first “made in Italy” brand in its business sector and it promotes from Rome to all Europe the italian tradition of quality and elegance. Is in the stylish showroom nearby Piazza del Popolo that ideas come true: it’s in this place that fashion mixed up with tailoring skills to create an unique style.Philosophy and collectionThe magic sensation of Grandma’s wardrobe, the feeling of being in an old movie full of narrow waist and fluffy hair young ladies. Laura Distefano decided to live such a dream everyday and to make a job of it.The costume designer started to look for original 40’s and 50’s fashion patterns, the finest fabrics and curious vintage details through European collectors’ markets, haberdashery stores and old warehouses. The result is an original female clothing line that reproduces the style of the age undeniably marked by the fashion of Edith Head, the famous Paramount’s costume designer who the brand is dedicated to. “A dress should be tight enough to show that you are a woman and large enough to show that you’re a lady”, suggests Edith Head in her book “The Dress Doctor”. It became Bloody Edith’s inspiring principle.Wheel skirts, navy overalls, pin-up shorts, bon ton sweaters and hats. Each garment is designed and hand made by crossing a taste for the past to the advantage of a new item. In the roman tailoring shop are born dresses with floral theme stealing the colors of Hawaii, high-waisted trousers with a characteristic cuff that remind us of the big screen’s divas, screwed jackets and animalier shirts. This is not a simple reproduction of the Forties and Fifties fashion, but a unique replica of the trends that have left an indelible mark in the history of costume, to return to woman the pleasure of a single item, freeing her from the trends imposed by a market fashion plagued by the products in series. Gonne a ruota, salopette marinarette, shorts da pin up, maglioncini bon ton e cappellini bomboniera.
Bettina Scarlett Presents is a boutique public relations and events agency with a passion for the 1950s. Having been brought up with rockabilly and rock n roll music of the 1950s, I am slowly turning my passion into a business by promoting brands inspired by the 1950s to a wider audience.

Then hitting the London clubs to jive none stop and get dressed up in forties and fifties attire, eventually collecting and shopping for clothes and accessories in Kensington, Camden and Portobello markets way back when provided the love and inspiration that led to Dream Retro.Jen the retro diva has traded at Portobello Road and Camden Markets, as well as promoting events, djing and running club nights in London. At Dream Retro you will find a stunning selection of books, vinyl records, kitsch barware, glassware, beautiful hand bags, jewellery, men’s & women’s accessories, posters and more. 20th Century Cloth design and print our own exclusive range of mid-century inspired fabrics, and for those who don’t sew we have recently launched a brand new collection of makeup and wash bags using our fabulous prints.A little bit of background…..I grew up in the wilds of Norfolk, under the influence of 50’s and 60’s Rock n roll music with a generous sprinkling of country thrown in.After leaving school I went on to art college, during which time I began to develop more of an interest in the design of the 1950s – the fashions, the cars, the architecture and interiors and of course the music.I went on to work in the fashion/textiles industry for many years but gave up my career when my children came along. When the time came for me to get back into work I really wanted to pursue something I could really enjoy.Having a genuine passion for mid-century style, and a background designing printed textiles for leading UK high street brands, it seemed a natural progression to launch my own business creating exclusive vintage inspired fabrics.I am equally passionate about British made products as I am about mid-century style and have made the firm decision to support UK manufacturing. My fabrics and products are all designed in London and printed and manufactured in the UK.Helen Snell,20th Century ClothCheck out our Gallery below, and visit our website and social media pages at the links above![gallery ids="5887,5888,5889,5890,5891,5892,5893,5894" orderby="rand"] This is Helen’s current top ten tunes:Up Jumped The Devil – Ronnie Dawson

Established in 2007; Get Go Retro is your source for pinup, retro and vintage inspired clothing.
We love the 50’s feminine and old Hollywood glam styles; so it seemed a natural fit to sell retro clothing.
All items are selected with the express purpose of offering clothes that ultimately make a woman feel feminine and good about herself. We carry women’s fashions from such well known designers as Stop Staring, Lolita, Bettie Page and Ujena, (to name a few. ) We also carry some of the less well known designers by embracing many designers from the cottage industry in an effort to offer unique styles that other sites are not offering. This concept has proved to be a “win-win” situation for us and the smaller designers by allowing us more variety, and the designers a platform to sell their items .
Originally founded with the idea of paying for college, Get Go Retro has been growing by leaps and bounds in the few short years we have been in business. Our clientele are fans of the timeless and classic dresses of the 40’s and 50’. Think silver screen glamour icons such as Audrey Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Rita Hayworth; or perhaps Burlesque Queen Bettie Page; to the girl next door, Debbie Reynolds.
Retro and rockabilly clothing accentuate the figure and cater to a woman’s independent fashion style with timeless and classic femininity. Retro fashion is worn by all ages, shapes and sizes. We carry all sizes; from petite to plus size. The retro styles are especially flattering on curvy women, so no need to be shy. Our clothes are classy, timeless, and most times, attention grabbing. One of the many characteristics of our dresses is that they can make the transition from being a perfect work dress and/or fabulous dinner dress.
We strive to offer our customers excellent service. If our customer’s are looking for something specific and we don’t sell it; let us know, we will try to find it for you. Our hope is to encompass a wide array of resources to help you create your own style and look. The company has a lot of fabulous plans for the coming year that you definitely won’t want to miss.
Any suggestions on how we can improve, or things you would like to see in the shop . . . feel free to contact us!

Ann Sheppard pays homage to all the forgotten heroines of the early 20th century – women for whom independence, self-assurance and freedom were important. They were not rebels or renegades, they just loved what they were doing.
Amelia Earhart, Gertrude Ederle and Jacqueline Cochran are some of these heroines, not forgetting all the countless female industrial workers who through building planes and ships amongst other things formed the backbone of the technological progress of the 1930s and especially the 1940s.
The fields of women’s activities changed dramatically and the styles of clothing changed with them. Inspired by these times, values and developments Ann Sheppard creates apparel rooted in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. This apparel is made to the same quality standards and with the same vintage techniques. Best fabrics, finest accessories and detailed finishing are the basis of all Ann Sheppard’s collections.

Pike Brothers specializes in the production of authentic outdoor and workwear of the early 20th century. Authentic to us means producing garments in exactly the same way as in the original period. Our garments are more than the sum of fabric, patterns and accessories. They have a story to tell, the story of who they are and where they come from. We believe that in regard to quality, traditional workmanship has prevailed. Only with carefully selected materials and a great deal of attention to detail are we able to produce garments that meet our very high standards as well as being unique in appearance and superior in comfort and durability.
Where we come from
Pike Brothers was founded by George and Joseph Pike in 1930. Their small but exclusive tailoring shop was located in the Portobello Road, Notting Hill, in the heart of London. Their specialty was custom-made menswear. During the Second World War with a steadily growing number of American soldiers coming to Britain, the Pike Brothers also specialized in the production of uniforms for the U.S. Armed Forces.
They combined the finest fabrics with European craftsmanship and created an unmistakable profile of sturdy American menswear with European influence; a heritage to which we are still committed today.
What we stand for
Set apart from the conventional, we create our superior utility garments in true style – without losing sight of functionality. We like to spend our free time outdoors so we know about the value of functional and high-quality garments. In order to fulfil our high expectations, we work together with exclusive European weavers and tailoring shops where the garments are made by hand, using traditional craftsmanship.
We are dedicated to the tradition: The true Style!
Here are some more of the products available on our website (except the truck of course).

After graduating from the School of Art in the 1990’s, AnneMarie pursued her passion as a seamstress. There always was the love for the last Mid-Century design of the 30’s -50’s, especially clothing, but good quality vintage clothing is harder and harder to come by.
This is why she founded Repro Vintage Clothing Co. in 2001, which is now RVC Originals.
RVC Originals (http://www.ReproVintageClothing.com) is the place to find real hand-tailored authentic style retro clothing from the last mid-century. Inspiration is found in designs that were made and worn in the 1930’s -1960’s.
We specialize in men’s clothing such as Gabardine Sports Jackets, Hollywood Style Suits, 50’s Slacks,
Pistol Pants, Pullover/Gaucho Shirts and more. We also have a section of women’s clothing with Hawaiian Dresses, Full Skirts, Cocktail Dresses and Tops.
Whenever possible, we work with authentic vintage fabric and original vintage buttons, zippers etc.
Old sewing patterns and sewing machines are used to make . Every item is made for the love of that period in time.
But what makes RVC Originals really special: Every item will be handmade only once: what you see is what we have. All jackets, dresses etc. are one-offs! So you will never have to worry that wherever you go, there might be someone wearing the same jacket or dress as you! This way we can give real meaning to the words: “…a truly unique piece of clothing…”
Rocket Originals was originally formed back in 1988. Our on-line shop opened in 2006.We’re based in Sheffield in the U.K. We’ve been collecting and wearing vintage clothing from the 1940’s and 1950’s and been on the “scene” for over 30 years now since we were teenagers – and we don’t intend to change now.We have our own range of Rocket Originals’ shoes for men and women manufactured, we’re very fussy in trying to get things right and try to get them as authentic as possible, they’re made from original patterns in most cases. Most of our men’s shoes are made here in England, as are our men’s socks. We’re proud to be doing our bit in helping keep our British industries alive and try, whenever possible, to have our stock manufactured in the UKOur ladies sweaters are also manufactured in England. All the designs are taken from vintage knitting patterns. As well as selling through our website we like to get out there and meet people and sell at various events, and we’ll be having a stall at quite a few weekenders etc this year, which will be listed on our homepage as and when they come along. When we’re not working at events we’ll be attending lots of them, we’ve put them on ourselves over the years and know the hard work that goes into it, not to mention your own hard-earned cash, so we support as much as we can.
